Our Services / Private Clients

Alexander David Securities is an Institutional Stockbroking company which provides market intelligent advice for its clients.

Step 1 - Understanding you and your objectives

Together we need to decide what type of investor you are and what type of investments will suit you. Do you want income or growth from your investments? Why you are saving and when do you need to access your investments? Investment experts tend to put investors in one of three categories: cautious, balanced or adventurous.

If you are a young investor you can afford to be more adventurous with your investments in the hope of getting better returns as you have longer to replace any money you lose. You can also be adventurous if you are wealthy and have plenty of money in other assets.

Balanced investors tend to be those who are slightly older, perhaps with families or who are prepared to take a little risk to get a better return.

If you want to ensure your capital is completely safe you are a cautious investor and should think carefully about whether investing in shares is for you. This is particularly important for people in or near retirement who would suffer a decline in living standards if they were to lose money.

Broadly speaking, you should think carefully about investing in shares unless you can afford to leave it untouched for at least five years.

Step 2 - Creating an investment strategy

Most investors dream at some point of putting all their money into the shares of just one company and making a fortune overnight.

Unfortunately, the chances of this happening are extremely slim and the risks all too high. Putting all your investment eggs in just one basket is a risk very few people can afford to take.

We help you to define your investment objectives and work closely with you, providing advice on all investment matters.

  1. What is the aim of the investment?
  2. What is your commitment?
  3. How flexible is the investment?
  4. What might you get back?
  5. What are the charges?
  6. What is the tax position?
  7. Can you change your mind?
  8. How do you find out how your investment is doing?

At Alexander David Securities we recognise the unique circumstances and objectives of each client. Our advice on your investments is based on quality research and the skills and the knowledge and experience of your investment advisor, who will carefully monitor and guide your investment portfolio.

Step 3 - Implementing the plan

We aim to construct investment portfolios based on a genuine understanding of the circumstances and needs of our individual clients, and an investment process that uses all the resources and experience that are available to the Company.

We will take into consideration an individual's tax position, risk profile, income needs and any number of individual investment requirements. This involves working closely with the client.

Clients are not invested in pre-determined model portfolios (unless they require that) but benefit from a structured portfolio construction process that encompasses the full range of assets including equities, funds, gilts and corporate bonds, structured products and so on.

Our Advisory Portfolio Management services are designed for clients who wish to have an active involvement in investment matters and retain responsibility for making their own investment decisions.

Step 4 - Managing your investments

Alexander David Securities will continue to provide you with views and news on your portfolio holdings as well as keeping you up-to-date with price sensitive information. Portfolio valuations are provided whenever requested but normally twice a year and contract notes are produced on a timely basis.

Your dedicated broker will monitor the performance of your portfolio and maintain a dialogue with you, the client.
